Tanzania’s safari seasons are generally divided into three categories: high season, low season and shoulder season (or mid-season). Here is a brief description of each season:
High season: June to October
Low season: April, May and November
Mid-season: January to March and December
High season: Tanzania’s high season runs from June to October. This is the most popular time for safaris, due to the favorable weather conditions and the great wildebeest migration in the Serengeti. Accommodation and safari rates are generally higher during this period due to high demand.
Low season: The low season in Tanzania is generally between April and May, as well as in November. During this period, rainfall can be more frequent, but the landscapes are lush and the national parks are less frequented. Prices for accommodation and safaris are often lower during this period.
Middle season: Tanzania’s shoulder season lies between the high and low seasons. It covers the months of January to March and November to December. During this period, weather conditions may vary, but the national parks are generally less crowded than in high season. Rates may be more affordable than in high season.
It’s important to note that weather conditions can vary from year to year. The seasons can also have an impact on the flora and fauna you can observe on your safari.
When setting off on safari, it’s important to prepare your equipment carefully to ensure comfort and safety. It is essential to bring :
Many languages are spoken in Tanzania, thanks to the country’s great cultural diversity. There are no fewer than 120 different ethnic languages! Swahili is the national language, used in administration. English is also an official language in Tanzania.
